A Birthday Trip: Hello, New York! (Pt. 2)

Y’all ready for part two of my sweet sixteen birthday trip? (part 1 here)
Friday afternoon, after we had tea at the Park Plaza Hotel, we walked down Fifth Avenue. We saw Trump Tower, St. Patrick’s Cathedral, went into Saks, and passed by nearly every expensive clothing store I could think of.

That day I got really good at crossing streets, wedging myself through crowds, and walking fast. The first store we went into was Tiffany’s.

Now, I haven’t seen Breakfast at Tiffany’s (yet), but I know how utterly iconic it is, and how iconic Tiffany’s is. So I was pretty excited to go into the real, original store. And it was busy. Very busy. We wandered around, looking at everything on the first floor….then we went up to the second floor, and the third floor. (Six floors total!) My parents surprised me by letting me choose a piece of jewelry to remember my trip by. After surviving overwhelment and taking oh-so-long to make a decision, I chose this pretty bracelet below.

The next day (Saturday), we went over to Battery Park to get on the ferry to see the Statue of Liberty and Ellis Island.

Unfortunately, we weren’t able to go up in the statue, but we walked around and then went to the museum at Ellis Island.

After we got back to the hotel, we still had a couple of hours to kill before dinner, so we walked through some of Central Park. Then later we went on a carriage ride through it. I loved Central Park! It was so cool  – the people roller-skating, the drum circle, the opera singer performing under a bridge…it was crazy but it was so cool.

Virtual chocolate bar to anyone who can tell me who Victor Herbert is! (Without looking it up 😉 )

Sunday we ate breakfast and then left and flew back. I had such a wonderful trip all in all and I want to go back someday!

Oooohh I love the picture of the Statue of Liberty! It’s so neat that you got to see it! Also Central Park sounds neat and sadly, I have no idea who Victor Herbert is. XD No chocolate bars for me. And wow, that must have been so exciting to get the bracelet at Tiffany’s! That WOULD be overwhelming. 😉
I’m glad you had a great trip!

I know, me too! Oh dear, apparently not very many people do! I have no idea what kind of food truck that was – there were a lot of them everywhere.
