Custom-Made 1940’s Suit Review

Hey guys! So back in November, when Jo-Ann’s had their black Friday sale, I bought some adorable vintage patterns. Among them wass this 1940’s suit (Simplicity 8242) that I fell in love with right away. But I had a bit of a dilemma – who was going to make it? My sewing talent is nearly nonexistent, so I certainly couldn’t…so I started looking around for people who I remembered were really good at dressmaking and such. I dug up Victoria, whose blog I’d already followed for quite a while, and guess what? She was willing to make me my suit!

Victoria was sooo easy to work with. She took my measurements and custom-fit the size of the suit for me, which was so helpful because we found out that the skirt and the top on me had to be 2 sizes apart! Plus the smallest size on the pattern for the bodice was too big after she had sent me a mock-up copy, so she altered the pattern herself and sent me another mock-up. (Which worked!) I sooo appreciated her sending me mock-ups to make sure that the suit fit perfectly!

I am so excited to have an occasion to wear this suit! I feel like Jean Arthur should have worn a suit like this in You Can’t Take it With You…or Bonita Granville in one of the Nancy Drew movies.

So guys, go check out Victoria’s blog here, her amazing Etsy shop here, and if you use this promo code, you can get 15% any purchase over $5 in her shop! –> PURRFECTLYBLOG15

singing off, (to 40’s music 😉 )

Awwww, thanks Allison! I think it suits me pretty well 😉 😉 hehehe. Oh, thanks! Junior took them for me. 8:00 in the morning is kind of like golden hour at our house and we found this beautiful spot of light that backlighted most of the pictures :)
