My Life, September

Hi! Glad to see you.sizable

My Life, September.

School:

August 31st was the first day of school. And speaking of school, this is what I’m doing. This fall, it is actually 9th grade work, because I did electives for ninth grade work last year. I’m saying I’m a sophomore because it’s my tenth year of school. But, if everything works out as planned, I should be able to complete two grades in 10 months this year: September-January, February-June. So I’ll do 9th and 10th this semester. My first five months are: New Testament Survey, World Geography, General Science III, Review on Basic Math, and English I. Tenth will be: World History, Old Testament Survey, English II, and Earth Science. I won’t do two grades of math this year, only one.

It will be a lot of pressure, as I’m cutting the time for school in half. Also I will only have 5 days of vacation for the entire ten months, and I will only have two months of summer vacation before I enter my junior year. It is a lot of work, but I am willing to do it. This actually was my idea completely. But, I’m going to graduate at sixteen, so it’s definitely worth it, right?

So far I am right on schedule and everything is going as planned. We use Alpha Omega for our school curriculum, and it gives you ten books per subject for each grade. (which, not including math, is forty books per grade.)  I have already completed seven books total. By the end of October I should have completed eight more.

Music:

My voice teacher is the assistant professor of music at a nearby college. He has invited me to sing a few solos at their homecoming. It’s their 100th anniversary and they’re doing a Broadway theme. Basically the soloists are doing the most popular musicals every ten years from 1916-2016. I’m singing Think of Me from the Phantom of the Opera (’86) and I Could Have Danced All Night from My Fair Lady (’56). We’re also doing three ensemble pieces, which are; There’s No Business Like Show Business, Give My Regards to Broadway, and Seasons of Love. This is the biggest opportunity I’ve ever had! Never sung a solo in public before. Right now, as the performance is SATURDAY, I am a collection of nerves. I’m happy, nervous, jumping-up-and-down excited, and FREAKED OUT! Also, on Tuesday next week, I have a student recital and we’re doing a reprise of homecoming. Busy busy!

In violin, things are pretty calm. I am working on Lindsey Stirling’s Phantom of the Opera Medley, and Vivaldi’s A Minor Concerto. I learned the first movement of the concerto six years ago with a Suzuki method teacher, but the concerto now is definitely not Suzuki, and A LOT harder! Oh, and I just learned by myself, Lindsey Stirling’s Crystallize.

Garden:

Last Thursday, my granddaddy, brother and cousins harvested FIFTY-FIVE GALLONS of sweet potatoes. So right now we’re in a sweet potato craze. Anyone have good recipes? Surprisingly the tomatoes are coming back, so my Muttie and I just canned nine pints of them about a week ago…and we have a lot of lima beans, and snap peas too!

Book:

Yes, that’s right. For those who don’t know, I’m writing a book. How is it going? Fine! I wrote two chapters. Then I stopped. I’ve been so busy I didn’t have the chance to write more! But, hey, that’s life, and that’s ME. I’m always starting projects that I can never finish!

Cooking:

My mama has been better about letting me cook in the kitchen. I have been experimenting with recipes for all of y’all! On Saturday I made cinnamon buns! Yummy yummy!!!!

Well, that’s basically my September. My iPod decided to freeze on me, so I can’t log in. Anyone have any ideas on how to fix it? I can’t even restart it! I will have to borrow my brother’s camera for now, so you won’t get any of the fancy editing either.
